Blessings of Healthy Vacation

Vacation, despite popular opinion, should not be a time to gratify the personal pleasures of rest and relaxation. One comes to discover as I have this vacation that precious time with family changes your perspective altogether. When we spend vacation time independently of the ones we love the most, we easily become slaves to selfish impulse or laziness. 50 weeks of the year become an incessent process in planning two so precious weeks, much like weekends after a "long" week of work. After all - we are entitled a vacation - considering that we have had to submit to an employer for the entire year without an opportunity to do anything for ourselves!

So as not to belabor the point, how about some blessings of a healthy vacation. For starters, praise God for future grace in the planning of this vacation- less than 3 months ago; and the greater blessing: Family! The wonderful comodity of time to see one another, eat, talk, laugh, play games, hike, watch movies, and more importantly enjoy family devotions, prayer and spiritual discussion. You might say this is nothing but personal gratification - but it all stems out of familial fellowship - the biggest difference and most wonderful blessing of a healthy vacation.
